Buffalo Bay Beach
Description
Buffalo Bay beach, also known as Buffelsbaai, is a blue flag beach located in Goukamma Nature Reserve, between the coastal towns of Knysna and Sedgefield, along the Western Cape Garden Route. The beach is characterised by dune fields, coastal fynbos, and a forest that flanks the long white sands. The beach is popular for swimming, surfing, sun-tanning, snorkelling, fishing, canoeing, and various other water activities. Here you can picnic among some of the highest vegetated sand dunes in the world and explore the rock pools. If you’re lucky, you can spot dolphins throughout the year and Southern Right Whales frequenting the area between May and November. There are ablution facilities, ample parking, as well as a variety of restaurants and shops along the beach road. Life guards are on duty in season.
