Debengeni Waterfalls
Description
The Debengeni Waterfalls are among the most beautiful and scenic attractions in the Magoebaskloof and Tzaneen Area. Translated as "the place of the big pots" in Northern Sotho, the falls are a popular picnic spot in summer. Set in a pristine natural forest with pools, this is a perfect spot for relaxing, picnicking, and swimming in the crystal pool. Some people also use the smooth rock formation as a waterslide. Taking this water ride may be dangerous.
The falls are in a protected nature reserve. A long winding gravel road flanked by mountain and plantation will lead you to a boom gate.
Set in the middle of hiking country, it’s also renowned for some rare species of birds. One of these is the colourful Grey Wagtail and Bush Strike. There are no shops on the premises, but ablutions and braais are available.
