Description
Dolphin Beach is a Blue Flag beach located in the heart of the laidback seaside town of Jeffrey’s Bay (known by locals as J’Bay) in the Eastern Cape, known for its famous surfing spot called Supertubes. The town is one of the five most famous surfing destinations in the world, with the world renowned and is a popular holiday destination with families who flock to the beaches in peak season.
The beach is host to the Billabong Pro competition, held every year as part of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour, and is well loved for touch rugby games, swimming, tanning, kite boarding, and shell collecting. The Shell Museum located on the beach is a must-see while you’re here. Dolphins are spotted at the beach all year round, and Southern Right Whales frolic in the waves between July and September. The beach features a public information kiosk, ablutions, showers, and a ramp for wheelchair access. Nearby you will find a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as the Dolphin Beach Entertainment Centre which offers waterslides, mini golf, and quad bikes for kids. Lifeguards are on duty during the blue flag season (November to April).
