Hawston Beach
Description
Hawston Beach is an immaculate Blue Flag in the little town of Hawston, near Hermanus in the Western Cape. The beach offers unsurpassed views of the mountains and dunes that stretch along the length of the coast as far as the eye can see.
Hawston Beach is seldom crowded and it offers some of the safest swimming water along the Western Cape coastline. It is well known for its whale and dolphin spotting opportunities, and there is plenty of birdlife that call the area home. As the dune systems around the beach are protected, please ensure you keep to the boardwalks.
Facilities include picnic areas, braai facilities, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a restaurant. Lifeguards are on duty from December to March each year. Interpretive boards give one the chance to learn about the unique vegetation and natural resources of the area.
