McDougalls Bay
Description
McDougalls Bay is a fantastic Blue Flag beach, situated a mere 7km from Port Nolloth in the Northern Cape, established as a small harbour and railway junction in 1854. This beach is something of a coastal playground, offering safe swimming and one of the best spots for windsurfing, kayaking, jetskiing, and bodysurfing in the province.
The municipality of Port Nolloth takes great pride in the prestigious Blue Flag status of the beach, ensuring that there are lifeguards on duty, the beach is kept clean, and the facilities are well maintained.
As the beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean, the waters tend to be a little chilly, but if you’re here to surf, your wetsuit will be more than enough. For the landlubbers, the beach offers great sports for crayfishing, sandcastle-building, birding, reading, and more. Braai facilities are available.
