Description

Makhato Lodge 29 is a thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.

Lodge 29 can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, an upstairs loft room, 3 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining area and living room. The first bedroom contains a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a ball and claw bath, twin washbasins, a separate toilet, and a large outside shower. The second bedroom contains a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, large shower, twin washbasins, and a toilet. The third bedroom contains 2 single beds. The upstairs loft room contains 2 single beds. These 2 rooms share a bathroom with a bath, a toilet and a washbasin. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans and oil heaters. The first, second and third bedrooms have doors opening to the outside paved area around the house.

The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and is fitted with a stove and oven, microwave, kettle, and a breakfast bar with stools. The dining area contains an 8-seater dining table and chairs. The spacious lounge has a ceiling fan, and a flat-screen plasma TV with a selection of DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered patio with an 8-seater dining table, a built-in braai, and 4 sun loungers with plush cushions. There is also a boma with chairs, and a firepit braai area.

The house has its own watering hole for animals, and is very privately situated, surrounded by indigenous bush and trees and out of view of other houses. A large paved carport is available.

Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
