Description

Makhato Lodge 62 is a thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.

Lodge 62 can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, dining and living area, and an enclosed patio with a second lounge and dining area. The first bedroom contains a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, large frameless shower, twin washbasins, and a toilet. The second bedroom contains a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, a toilet and a washbasin. The third bedroom contains 2 single beds and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. The fourth bedroom contains 2 single beds. This room has use of a separate bathroom with a bath and a shower, a toilet and a washbasin.

The granite-topped kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and a breakfast nook with 8-stools. There is also a separate scullery with a washing machine and tumble-dryer. The dining room contains an 8-seater sleeper table and chairs. The lounge contains a built-in fireplace for those cold winter nights, and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The enclosed patio contains a lounge set, a built-in braai, and a separate 8-seater table with benches. The patio has stacker doors that can be opened in the summer.

There is a large paved boma area with a firepit to sit and enjoy the bushveld. A large undercover parking area is provided adjoining the house.

Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
