Description
Verdun Country House is a lovely farm style villa nestled on a private equestrian estate set on the outskirts of Franschhoek, a quaint town in the Cape Winelands. Set in a landscape characterised by deep purple mountains and endless vineyards, Franschhoek is often referred to as the food and wine capital of the country.
The garden is very established with beautiful oak trees, and local animal life includes owls, squirrels and many species of birds. The owner has three beautiful horses on the property, but they are not for guests to ride. Chickens and ducks are kept in their special garden too.
This villa can accommodate 10 guests and comprises 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a king-size bed with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower and double basin. The second bedroom is furnished with a double bed and a new en-suite bathroom with shower added in 2023. The third bedroom has a king-size bed and has its own bathroom with shower (fitted in 2023). The fourth bedroom is furnished with a double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. The fifth bedroom has a double bed and its en-suite bathroom is fitted with a shower and bath. Two of the bedroom suites can be inter-leading, or accessed privately through their own entrance via the patio.
The house is cleverly designed with two wings, each having their own living areas with DSTV, and Netflix, which makes it ideal for families or groups who want their separate space. Both living rooms open onto the patio and pool area. The kitchen is fully equipped to meet the guests' self-catering needs, with a beautiful big farm table for those family gatherings. The patio features a braai area, dining table and seating area. There is also a swimming pool, sun loungers, a playground for children and Wi-Fi.
This villa is particularly special for family gatherings and re-unions. Chefs can be arranged to cook for guests.
The villiage is 3 mins by car, where many renowned restaurants are found. There is a Woolies, Checkers, Pick 'n Pay, amongst other grocery stores and botique shops. The establishment has 10 bicycles for guests to use.
Activities in the area include horseback riding, mountain biking, wine tasting, cycling, fishing and fine dining. Enjoy a true Cape Winelands farm experience. There is also a lovely market on a Saturday and Sunday.
