St Andrew's School for Girls is a private Christian day and boarding school for girls nestled in park-like grounds in Bedfordview, just 15 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport.

The school has been voted as the best English high school, best private school for girls, and the best nursery school in The Star’s 2008 “Your Choice” poll. Transport is available for girls in the northern and southern suburbs of Johannesburg and in the Benoni area. The school teaches from Grade RRR to Grade 12 and has 1100 students

HERITAGE

Founded in 1902 by two young Scottish women, Jessie Johnston and Jean Fletcher, St Andrews was initially in Hospital Hill (now called Houghton). The two women later moved it to Bedford Court on a large farm owned by mining mogul, George Farrar.

The school motto is Per Angusta Ad Augusta which means “Through trials and tribulations to glory”. The school philosophy is “Skilled for life”.

ACADEMICS

The girls at St Andrews write the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) exams each year and achieve excellent results. The school’s strength lies in its small classes which allow much more personal attention.

The 2014 Matric pass rate was 100%.
