Description

Giants Cup Wilderness Reserve Lakeside Lodge is a premier wild-trout fly fishing destination in Southern Africa, and is a registered site of conservation significance. The reserve is home to prolific wildlife and waterfowl, and is one of the most beautiful fly fishing destinations on the plant; with the Umzimkulwana river and a lake full of wild-spawning rainbow and brown trout, Giants Cup Wilderness sets the standard for authentic wilderness angling in spectacular mountain scenery.

This unit is a 4-sleeper unit set in a pine forest just a short cast away from the lake's edge. It comprises 2 bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed with an en-suite with a Jacuzzi bath. The second bedroom has 2 double beds with a shower. The unit has an open-plan lounge and kitchenette area.

The open-plan living area features comfortable seating, a cosy fireplace, a dining table, and a kitchenette. The kitchenette is well equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove, oven, microwave, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Outside guests can relax on a patio while admiring the natural surroundings or use the braai facilities available.

Uniquely, the property is an enclave situated inside the perimeter game fence of the World Heritage Maloti/Drakensberg Park, which comprises almost half a million hectares of wilderness area stretching from Bushman’s Nek in the southwest and running in an unbroken line against the escarpment right through to past Bergville, in the north. This is the largest wilderness conservation area in KwaZulu-Natal and is home to a wide variety of game, including a number of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibia which are highly endangered and or threatened. Activities nearby include horse riding, fly fishing and mountain biking.
