Acclaimed as South Africa’s most prestigious horse racing event and the largest annual outdoor social event in Cape Town, the J&B Met will once again provide a dazzling display of the fast and the fabulous at the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on Saturday, 1 February 2014.

The J&B Met, more fondly known as “The Met”, is all about networking, high fashion, sophistication, having an unforgettably snazzy party with friends, and, of course, fast horse power! As 16 of South Africa’s top race horses compete for the R2.5 million prize, you’ll find yourself hob-nobbing alongside some of the country’s hottest actors, models, TV presenters, sport stars, and other celebs.

The Met is as much about the glitz and glamour as it is about the galloping. The theme for this year is “Made to Conquer” – a call for courageous fashionistas to “Dress Victorious” and command attention in their most bold, stylish, and sophisticated garment. Make your outfit from something truly unique, wear what traditionally should not be worn, but whatever you do, make sure it stands out.

One of the highlights of The Met is the Most Elegant Couple competition. For the first time ever, the J&B Met is teaming up with SABC 3’s breakfast show, Expresso, to host a fashion parade before the event.  The on-air contest will give couples the chance to win a spot in the finals to compete for the coveted title on race day. There will also be a pre-judging competition on J&B Met day to accommodate the hundreds of stylish hopefuls, so arrive early and do everything you can to be spotted! Prizes include products and vouchers from Elizabeth Arden, Carlton Hair, Sunglass Hut, Mangwanani Spa, GrandWest Casino, and Cavendish Square, as well as a 7-night stay at Beachcomber’s 5-star superior Paradis Hotel & Golf Club in Mauritius.
