Parys
Description
Parys is a small town of 43,000 people situated on the banks of the Vaal River in the Free State. The name Parys, Afrikaans for Paris, was given by a German Surveyor who had participated in the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. He found this location next to the Vaal to be much like the River Seine in Paris. Today Parys is in the 5km zone of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site.
