Superb. Our stay at 153 Edmond Glenwood was very nice. We really loved the place; everything was in order and the location is awesome too. I'll definitely come back soon and I'd recommend the place to everyone. It's very nice.

Good stay overall but improvement required in identified areas. Excellent experience: i. Thanks for the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house during 20-28 December 2024. ii. The place met most of our expectations in terms of functionality, privacy, off-street parking, security and space. The rooms, the lounge and dining area were spacious and well furnished with fans/air conditioning in Durban weather, which is a must. iv. The garden was well maintained and a pleasure to spend time in. v. The kitchen had plenty of appliances and it’s a pity that the list of the most essential appliances is not visible when making a booking. We brought some of our own appliances which was not necessary. vi. The big size fridge/freezer was a winner for big family/group bookings. It allowed us to stock all the essential food for a long period. vii. The big TV with inverter for load shedding was also a winner, especially with the frequency we are experiencing power outages. v. The big leather couches were comfortable and nice. ix. The gas braai was also something nice to have although we never got to use it. b. Bad experience. i. On arrival, we only received one remote & access key. This arrangement is not practical when a family/group of 8 people have booked the place. We should have received at least two sets of remotes/access keys. There was not even an access key for the gate to Edmond Street, and that gate can only be opened from inside. The only other access from outside is through the garages from the alley from ZK Matthews Road side. This has created a lot of inconvenience because we had to constantly make plans on how people would gain access since we did not always go out together and/or return at the same time. When some people left, those who stayed behind could not change their plans and also leave, and always had to arrange to drop off the remote/keys or arrange for someone to stay home to open when others returned. ii. The swimming pool water had to be treated before we could use the swimming pool after two days from arrival. Insufficient amenities were supplied. The kitchen had no tea, coffee, sugar and milk - this is normally supplied even if it is self-catering accommodation. Insufficient toilet paper was supplied for the duration of the booking. Only 2 extra toilet papers per bathroom were supplied knowing that it would not be restocked before the end of the 8-day period. If the cleaner was not expected to service the rooms regularly, additional supplies and extra linen, towels and mats should have been provided for the guests to change when required. No air fresheners in the bathrooms. iv. The linen was not changed once for the entire duration (8 days) we stayed there. Industry norms are that bedding is changed after 3-5 days. After 5 days, the cleaning lady removed all the flat sheets (2 days before check-out) on the beds and the mats in the toilets and bathrooms without replacing them with clean ones. This is totally unacceptable. We had to lie on fitted sheets and directly underneath duvets. We don’t know how frequently the duvet covers have been washed and/or whether they have been used by previous guests. Sleeping under duvets with the Durban weather we experienced was not nice. v. Although the kitchen has a lot of appliances and cutlery, most of the dinner plates are chipped, and there were a lot of incomplete sets of plates, cups, glasses and bowls, etc. For example, there were not enough knives, forks and spoons for 8 people. There were also not enough matching sets of glasses (which were also chipped), plates and cups. When we had our Christmas dinner, we had to go and buy an additional set of cutlery and had to use a mixture of plates and glasses which did not look nice. vi. Although the kitchen was well furnished with appliances, it was a bit small and became very hot when preparing meals. Installing an extractor fan will help reduce the heat in the kitchen and make the experience of working in the kitchen (even if it is small) more pleasurable. vii. The drain in the bathrooms was blocked and we had to sometimes stand in our own water when showering. We had to open the blocked drain with the plunger that was available in the kitchen. v. The bath towels were also removed from the lines and bathrooms (after we washed them ourselves and hung them on the lines to dry, including bathroom mats) 2 days before check-out time. They were never replaced with other towels; how were we supposed to dry ourselves? Also completely unacceptable. Not sure if they have only one set of each and therefore have to remove it 2 days in advance to prepare for other/new guests that need to check in after us?

This was the most enjoyable stay, service was very good; we truly had a great time with my friends. The house was super clean and in a quiet place, which is what we were looking for with my friends. Going to South Beach and Shaka Marine took us less than 20 minutes. There are other great entertainment areas nearby. Above all, it's in a great safe area, and security was paramount for us.
