Disappointing stay. We were there for 10 days. Attractive house in close proximity to the main beach. Lovely big trees in the garden offering good shade. Stressful stay due to plumbing and waste drainage issues. The house needs maintenance. Problems with both doors going onto the patio side of the house made our stay unpleasant. Missing lightbulbs, loose taps in the downstairs bathroom, couldn't keep water in the basin as the plug did not fit properly. No plug for the bath, so unable to use it. Large property which we thought would be great for our active dogs, but the lawn was sparse and the ground was full of burrs and thorny weeds. There were piles of garden refuse which we needed to keep the dogs out of. Not being smokers, we did not appreciate the cigarette ends in the garden and in the plant bed on the verandah, which we ended up cleaning up. The washline had fallen over and was lying in the sand when we arrived. We lifted it up many times as it kept falling over with our washing on it. We eventually had to dig a hole and put the base in firmly.

The house is a beautiful original St Francis Bay property and still has all the original doors and windows which do require regular maintenance. The rollers do seize up now and then due to the sea air. St Francis Bay has serious water restrictions in place due to a long drought, hence no irrigation allowed and rather shower than bath. The loose tap in the bottom bathroom was a 30-second fix by tightening up a nut that had come loose. The garden is not full of garden refuse or weeds as stated. Will check reviews on next booking. The outside room, bedroom 4 with double bed/sofa's mattress was so thin and the room was full of mosquitoes. The house was full of spiders.

Very nice stay - we would, however, suggest the below. Needs braai tongs. Braai area needs a proper light and the sand around the braai is unpleasant. Maybe a few of those pebbles would help with the sand situation. Need steak knives - cutlery not in good condition and no decent knives. Maybe also an additional shower in the bath at the top bathroom.

Amazing hosts, superb location, sparkling clean. 5 stars from me. Richard, our host, and his daughter Louise were extremely easy to communicate with. Louise was waiting fir us to open up and show us around. The house is very spacious with everything we needed to have a wonderful weekend away. The garden was fenced, which gave the kids and our dog plenty of safe, outdoor space. We had a lovely stay and I would highly recommend Anchor Drift to anybody who wanted to have a relaxing holiday in St Francis Bay.

It was just a place were we slept. We were received by a very friendly owner Richard. We basically only slept at the house, as we spent our days & evenings in the company of my Canadian relatives that rented a house on the canals.

That was a weekend we're definitely going to repeat at this awesome place. It was amazing at Anchor Drift. Peaceful and the owners were awesome. The kids really enjoyed the big yard.
