Peaceful. We had an amazing stay. Will definitely recommend! Derrick was a very friendly host, and he made sure we were settled in and happy. Will be going back soon. Being dog lovers ourselves, the 3 dogs on the premises made us feel welcome, at peace and felt like we were at home, away from home. Thank you Derrick!

Blissful getaway in nature. We had a wonderful stay in the tent for a weekend. The tent, bathroom and barbecue area had everything we needed. My little ones enjoyed exploring the forest paths and the pool was a winner. The icing on the cake was the large hanging bed - just right for lying down and chatting, reading or playing games. A special experience. Our 13-year-old daughter wanted to stay two weeks! It was delicious. Close to nature. We rested well. If it hadn't been for wife who suddenly fell ill, we would have walked the 2 km walking route. The swimming pool was a pleasure and the communal open air lounge (between the trees where there was mobile phone reception) was a lovely resting spot and ideal for enjoying the birds. The winding paths through the forest are safe and our conversations with our host, Derrick, were really pleasant. The hammock is a winner!

Beautiful, peaceful getaway. We stayed in the glamping tent. It was a wonderful getaway for the night, in a gorgeous setting very close to Hartebeesport Dam. Derrick was a great host - incredibly welcoming and friendly. The location is stunning and was the perfect getaway for the night away from the city. It was peaceful and serene and we loved listening to the insects and birds throughout our stay. We could hear the lions in the distance every so often. The hammock bed was perfect for afternoon naps and stargazing. A truly superb spot, giving you a rustic feel so close by! Thank you, Derrick!

The most horrible experience of our lives. Arriving at the bush retreat, we were not allowed onto the premises and had to allow the manager's dogs to greet us first by pushing their heads in between our legs. Eventually, inside, we were expected to sit on bamboo furniture with the dirtiest covers, ripped and full of dog hair. The shared kitchen was initially OK, but then we found dirty dishes in the cupboards, molded food in the fridge and clutter everywhere. The boma/braai has a rusted grill that falls down when moved. The fireplace was not clean and the outside table and chairs were filthy. The chalet is the manager's own personal bedroom, with black dust on everything, mouse droppings on the bed, a molded shower curtain and old soap with suspicious hair on it. The curtains were old army pillowcases held in place with pins. The TV was not working and the excuse was that the laptop is broken. The manager wanted to visit with us even after we told him we wanted privacy. He declared that he is a Reiki practitioner, which is not aligned with us, and he made an entire story of it while explaining that he is going through a divorce and that is why his TV is not working - the ex took the laptop! I am all for rustic and bush retreats, but sleeping under the stars on the dirt would have been cleaner than that chalet. We left the next morning before 8 am.
