Description
Bongela Private Game Lodge is a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere, Limpopo Province. Located about 2 hours from Johannesburg or Pretoria and just 15 km from the charming town of Vaalwater, it offers easy access to local tourist attractions, arts, and crafts, and peaceful surroundings. The name "Bongela," meaning "to be grateful for," reflects the lodge's offering of stunning natural scenery, pristine bushveld, and luxurious relaxation spaces, making it a perfect getaway for those seeking tranquility and the beauty of nature.
The accommodation consists of various units, all designed for comfort. Each unit is equipped with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms, with crisp linen and towels provided. The units are serviced daily and offer views of a central waterhole, which attracts birds and mostly Nyala. Guests can enjoy the convenience of coffee-making facilities and a bar fridge in each unit.
The lodge offers rest areas with a self-service coffee station, DStv in common areas, a fully licensed bar, lounge and reading corner, wine tasting in the cellar, and a Cognac and Whiskey lounge. Various dining experiences are available and guests can be seated in the main dining area, on the covered patio outside, or at smaller tables under umbrellas around the pool and boma area.
The entertainment area provides guests with various activities, including a pool table, darts, and table tennis on the deck. There is also a heated swimming pool with a sunbathing deck, pool lounges, and a large pool for cooling off. Sundowners can be enjoyed on the deck overlooking the dam, and the boma area is ideal for sitting around a fire after sunset, surrounded by the sounds of the night.
Furthermore, guests can take advantage of early morning, evening, and night drives, explore mountain biking and walking trails, or enjoy bow and clay pigeon shooting. Children have a dedicated play area to keep them entertained. A curio shop is available at reception for souvenir hunters.
