Canyon Roadhouse is an innovative lodge that celebrates the good old days of the automobile. The lodge resembles a roadhouse with a large red roof, and is the perfect destination for those visiting the Fish River Canyon, as it is ideally located on the road to the Fish River Canyon; 27.2 km from the viewpoint.
The lodge offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in 24 tastefully decorated rooms that are positioned around courtyards. The air-conditioned rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, and each room has an en-suite bathroom. Tea- and coffee-making facilities are also provided in each room.
The lodge boasts a farm-style swimming pool, an inviting terrace, a restaurant, and a petrol station. The lodge is adorned with rusty old Chevys and Fords from a bygone era, as well as an international truck serving as the reception desk. An assortment of classic vehicles and transport paraphernalia have been assembled with an innovative and creative flair; the restaurant tables are placed in between, and the cabs of several cars serve as fireplaces in the chilly winter months.
A beautiful sunset is best appreciated from the hill above the lodge, looking out onto the flat-topped Holoog Mountain and the Gondwana Canyon Park. The lodge offers activities for an additional charge, such as a guided excursion to the Fish River Canyon viewpoints, hiking trails, and 4x4 trails.
