Kalk Bay is an area that has many steep hills, and you will find that there are stairs all over the area. The Guesthouse is one of these houses that have stairs all over as well as inside, and as it is a heritage site, we are unable to make any changes to it. We are also a smoke-free zone; however, we have a designated smoker's area which is located outside on the patio. By law, you are not allowed to smoke indoors anymore. We also offer a complimentary coffee/tea service every morning that you do not have to pay for. This is served from 7:15 am - 9:00 am daily and brought up to your room to make up for us not having tea or coffee making facilities in the room. You can opt for this service whether you have including or excluding breakfast. It is available to all guests staying at the Guesthouse at no additional charge during the allocated time period. 1st trip to Cape Town. This was my first trip to Cape Town and my first trip abroad as a solo female traveler. The staff at Chartfield Guesthouse was exceptionally helpful from the initial booking, arranging airport transfers, and just being genuinely gracious hosts. The view from my room of the bay was spectacular. Waking up to the sunrise and the sound of waves was an extra bonus that I didn't expect. Their coffee and breakfasts were some of the best I had during my stay. As a first-time solo female traveler, I had my concerns about safety, but those were unfounded as I walked everywhere without any issues.

What a lovely place to stay, it is ideal with the beautiful coastline, shopping, walks, swimming and fabulous restaurants.
