Clarens is known both as the 'Adventure Capital' and the 'Jewel in the Free State'. People visit to enjoy an adrenaline rush, to take in the beautiful surroundings - and sometimes both. There are hiking trails around the village. Golden Gate National Park is less than 20km away, whilst the more adventurous can bring their passports and visit Lesotho.
