Description
This comfortable, modern Guest House has 6 double, en-suite bedrooms, each with its own separate entrance; large, private verandah; extra-long king size or twin beds with 100% cotton percale linen; air conditioning and fans; TV and fridge; tea and coffee tray and hair dryer. Solar Power Water Heater. The views are down the Southbroom Golf Course 12th and 13th fairways all the way to a breaker view of the Indian Ocean.
Situated in the peaceful village of Southbroom on the KZN Hibiscus Coast, Coral Tree Colony has become an iconic landmark - an architect designed and purpose-built, modern colonial building with wrap-around verandahs highly suitable for the sub-tropical climate. The large breakfast and lounge area opens out onto the breakfast patio and indigenous garden. Breakfasts are hearty affairs with Chef Dave in attendance and can sometimes stretch well into the late morning. Early morning risers and more delicate appetites are also catered for.
Perfect for a golfing getaway with 8 wonderful courses in easy driving distance of Coral Tree Colony - there are three excellent beaches along Southbroom's extended coastline. The main swimming beach is guarded by both lifesavers and shark nets. Just round the corner from there, is Granny's Pool. A delightful little cove with a tidal pool, lots of rock pools and easy access via a boardwalk. Further south is Marina Beach's Blue Flag beach - plenty of room for sunbathing, frisbees, sandcastles or cricket! Dolphins are often seen off the coast and from June to November few days go by without whale sightings. Southbroom is in a Malaria Free area.
The village is a an integral part of the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom with incredible indigenous trees and shrubs, an amazing number of birds - both vocal and colourful - and a number of shy species of antelope and various small mammals. The blue and red duiker are endemic to the area and might just be seen on one of the two Nature Trails. Just round the corner from Coral Tree is Southbroom's very convenient little shopping centre - and ten minutes up the R61 to Shelly Beach are two world class shopping hubs.
A couple of world class restaurants in the village and next door in quaint Ramsgate are well worth a visit, as are the numerous coffee shops and curio shops up and down the coast. Choose Coral Tree Colony in Southbroom for your next holiday, weekend break or overnight stop.
