Description
If the Baviaanskloof is too remote for your liking or inaccessible, but you still want the peace and quiet that is unique to this area then this is the campsite for you.
DeMist River CampHuts is an off-the-grid campsite situated on the banks of the Gamtoos River. The camphuts is set on a working citrus farm, at the gateway to the Baviaanskloof but still on the main road and easily accessible by any small vehicle. In fact, you will be able to drive right up to the river.
Although the camp is off-the-grid with no electricity, it does offer running water, flushing toilets, and nice hot showers, all bush camping style. Campsites are also available on the premises.
Whether you would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rat race for a day or 7 and just come and relax close to nature with a book, or just want to sit around and breathe fresh air, you will be satisfied.
The farm offers catch-and-release fishing, and plenty of hiking trails, and for bird watchers, there are several small bird species, as well as a residential fish eagle pair.
You will be close enough for a quick trip to Patensie town to stock up on provisions, or if you need a change of scene you can visit Jeffrey's Bay for the day.
