Description

The Elephant House is an exclusive lodge situated near the Addo Elephant National Park in the sun-drenched Sundays River Valley. The wide verandas filled with comfortable sofas form a series of courtyards. The décor at Elephant House evokes colonial and African images and is furnished with the owners' private collection of antiques, Persian rugs and Africana art.

The 11 spacious bedrooms open onto courtyards and private verandas. The luxury rooms all have a lovely main bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The rooms are set in established gardens. The Stable Cottages are situated across the road from the main house and only offer showers. All 5 cottages are equipped with a mini bar fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

The chef serves light, poolside lunches and after sundowners, a memorable 3-course candlelit dinner is prepared with flair.

Children are welcome and babysitters are available on request. Children also have full use of the club room which has games, a TV with a DVD library and a laptop computer.

The in-house field guide, an elephant expert with many years' experience with the elephants of Addo conducts 2 game drives through the National Park in the open Land Cruiser daily. Both departing and ending at The Elephant House. Drinks and snacks are provided on the game drive. All game drives are at an additional charge and not included in the accommodation rate.
