Frog Mountain Getaway is a unique, spectacular farm 18 km from Swellendam, only 2.5 to 3 hours drive from Cape Town. Tucked away in a secluded green valley at the end of a farm road, you will feel like you have entered another world and are a million miles away from everything. The setting is truly breathtaking right up against the vibrant mountains.
This family farm is the ideal nature lover’s paradise with raw beauty at your fingertips. Some of the highlights include swimming in rock pools, visiting waterfalls, hiking, swimming, and paddling on the beautiful Buffeljags River that meanders through the farm. We also have a children’s playground, an adrenaline-inducing slide, a fishing dam, and a labyrinth.
Frog Mountain Getaway is fully self-catering and offers 6 different houses to suit large or small groups. The farm can host about 24 adults and 24 children in total. Accommodation is offered in 3 neat, cosy thatched rondavels that offer an authentic natural African feel, suiting couples or a small family. They overlook the green fields where our indigenous Nguni cattle graze. There are 3 bigger options; a traditional cosy private 8-sleeper cottage, a gorgeous large 10-sleeper rondavel ideal for large families, and our exclusive 12-sleeper farmhouse with a private pool and a magical view of the fields and mountains. All our houses have private gardens, braai areas, fire pits and wood-fired hot tubs.
Frog Mountain is the perfect place for a weekend away with family or friends where you can completely unwind and relax. Also great for larger gatherings and celebrations. The farm is quiet and peaceful, where you wake up to the sound of the birds and can soak in the green nature and be blown away by the dazzling Milky Way. You may be lucky to spot a bushbuck, otter, rooikat and a myriad of bird species. Your children may love to meet the resident farm animals, dogs, cats, donkeys, horses and cattle.
