Description
Fugitives' Drift Lodge is a lovely lodge situated on a 500-acre game reserve, registered as a Natural Heritage Site, and acclaimed for its battlefield tours to Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift. The lodge is situated on the site of the original Rattray homestead, and offers comfortable accommodation, excellent hospitality and personal service.
Accommodation is offered in 10 en-suite guest rooms, Umzinyathi House, and Kwa-George. The guest rooms are in the original lodge which has been renovated. Up the hill, set back from public access in private seclusion is the self-catering Umzinyathi House. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and spacious. Meals are served table d’hote in the individual dining rooms or, weather permitting, outside on the decks. The lodge offers a beautiful, shady, well-established garden, home to birds, and a lovely swimming pool situated on a secluded spur on the lip of the Buffalo River gorge.
The battlefield tours led by the Rattray brothers and the team have achieved an international reputation for which Fugitive’s Drift is renowned. The formula for entertaining people with moving, detailed presentations on site, offering wonderful food and exclusive lodges, has proved itself. Further activities in the area include, horse riding, bird watching, fishing in the Buffalo River, mountain biking, and game walks.
