Description
Gunyatoo Trout Farm and Lodge is situated on a working trout farm in Rhenosterhoek Valley, 25 km from Sabie. The lodge is just the place for a fishing vacation or weekend getaway, but any nature lover will find themselves in a proverbial paradise.
The accommodation consists of 4 guest rooms, situated in the lodge, and 4 separate self-catering units. The Lodge Pool Dble Lux, Lodge T King - Luxury, Twin Room, and Lodge King - Luxury each have an en-suite bathroom, tea- and coffee- making facilities, and glass french doors opening up onto a private balcony with beautiful views of the surrounding pine forests and trout dams. The Twin Room does have an interleading door to a room with a king bed, which can be booked together to form a 4-sleeper family unit. Additionally, the Lodge King - Luxury has a kitchenette with a bar fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery. Each of the rooms has its own patio.
The Self Catering F/H Cottage- 2A+2C, Self Catering AA Log Cabin, Self-catering The Studio, Selfcatering Fisherman's Cottage, and The Eco Love Shack each have fully equipped kitchens and braai facilities. The Self-catering Fisherman's Cottage is off-the-grid and makes use of solar-assisted lights, a wood-fired donkey hot water system, and gas appliances.
The farm has 2 rainbow trout-stocked dams but for the enthusiastic fly fisherman, there is limited stream fishing with resident browns for the more experienced fisherman. Private fly fishing lessons and group clinics can be arranged on-site. After a day of fishing one can enjoy a drink at the bar, have a game of pool or darts then unwind in the sauna or swimming pool. Should it be chilly one can warm up around roaring log fires in the lounge. The Sabie area is truly a birders paradise, therefore, relaxing on the wooden decked patio and watching the abundant birdlife is a must. Other activities include farm trails and walks to the nearby waterfalls. Arrangements can be made for quad bike tours, horse riding, gorge-swinging, rafting, and many more activities.
