Description
Heartwood Homestead offers a unique, off-the-grid, farm stay experience, located on a tranquil and scenic working farm situated on the Eastern side of East London.
This eco-friendly, reclaimed timber, zinc-clad cabin is tucked away in an indigenous forest, offering a secluded getaway and overlooks the Gonubie River valley. The house can accommodate 2 adults and there is a large couch that will sleep a child as well. The house has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan living area. The bedroom is located on the mezzanine level and is furnished with a double bed and shelves for clothing storage. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and basin.
We are fully equipped with the environmentally revolutionary Dry Compost Toilet. (Which is not to be confused with a pit latrine/ long drop. It is not at all similar.)
On the lower level, the open-plan kitchenette contains basic appliances such as a fridge and a 2-plate gas stove, including a selection of utensils, crockery and cutlery to use. The adjacent lounge has a single sleeper couch and features stacker doors that open onto the veranda.
There is also a short trail through the forest leading to a forest deck which offers stunning picturesque views of the Gonubie River valley.
The cabin is completely solar-powered. The small working farm has free-range chickens and ducks, chicks, sheep, rabbits, a small indigenous nursery and a carpentry workshop.
