We just wanted to visit Meiringspoort. The history of the area is so wonderful. Amazing! The hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable. They opened their personal garage to lock up our 7 motorcycles for the night, made a personalized braai for us, and sat around telling us stories of the hotel and the area. Welcoming, wonderful and homey. It was such a treat to stay at Hotel De Rust and experience this time capsule of the Klein Karoo. This was so much more wonderful than simply staying in an Airbnb – our hosts were super engaging and friendly, but also very relaxed with our comings and goings.
