Why Love Story?
We wanted to tell the story of a grand old sandstone lady, a house that has experienced decades of family and friends meeting together under her roof. Sharing their love, joy, heartaches, and hope around a table or a braai. Here we are, looking at the beautiful town of Paul Roux and its story, marking the land with memories of what was and with hope for what is to come. We dare to dream of a sandstone lady dressed and beautiful, ready to host friends and family around her table again, enjoying the peaceful sounds of birdsong, tasting the fruits of the garden, and cherishing the memories being made.
A story of love for a grand sandstone lady and her fruitful garden, a story of love for the beautiful nature of the eastern Free State, the Majestic Malutis in the distance and their stories of perseverance and love.
Love Story Guesthouse is located in the hamlet of Paul Roux, in the Free State. The guesthouse offers a blend of old-world charm with fresh, modern touches amongst the peaceful and tranquil surroundings.
This rustic, country-style guesthouse features 3 en-suite guest rooms. The room contains a queen or double-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, one offers a bathtub, whilst the others offer a shower only. The rooms feature exposed sandstone details and include complimentary toiletries, a wall-mounted heater and a tower fan.
Our communal kitchen is the heart of the home. All guests are welcome to make use of the kitchen, it features a gas oven/cooker, microwave, basin, kettle, as well as cutlery and crockery. Relax on the large north-facing patio or the south-facing porch. Guests can enjoy the comfort of the lounge, which features a bookshelf with books and games for quiet evenings.
Guests can escape the hustle of the city and immerse themselves in the surrounding nature, exploring the garden, which features apple, fig, peach, quince, and pomegranate trees. Guests are welcome to pick and enjoy the ripe harvest during the season.
The guesthouse also has an outdoor fireplace, braai/barbecue facilities, a picnic area, a sun terrace, and a large garden for all your pets to enjoy.
Pink Tricycle Paul Roux is a cosy restaurant located just 900 meters from the Love Story Guest House. For runners and walkers, the Pine Forest, Paul Roux 5 km parkrun takes place every Saturday. It is a trail path, and the start and end points are at the picnic spot in the Pine Forest above Reservoir Road.
Paul Roux is a small picturesque town and is approximately a 1-hour drive from the artist and adventure seekers' town of Clarens, as well as 91.5 km from the renowned Golden Gate Highlands National Park
Wolhuter's Kop Game and Nature Reserve and Dihlabeng Mall in Bethlehem are 40 km from the property.
