Description
Makhato Lodge 1 is a thatched self-catering bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve near Bela Bela. The Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province is a private game reserve just 150 km from Johannesburg, where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the bushveld, encounters with zebra, kudu, impala and giraffe, or a spot of bird watching.
Lodge 1 can accommodate up to 6 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an upstairs loft room, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The first bedroom contains a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, a shower, a toilet, and twin washbasins. The second bedroom contains 2 single beds and the third bedroom contains a queen-size bed. These 2 rooms share a bathroom with a bath and a shower. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans and heaters and sliding doors opening onto the verandah.
The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, a breakfast nook and a scullery. The living area contains a flat-screen TV with a selection of DStv channels. The living area opens to a covered verandah with outdoor dining furniture. The upstairs loft contains 2 sleeper couches, and opens to a covered balcony. The house has an outdoor boma with a built-in braai and a firepit.
Sondela offers an on-site restaurant and bar, a farmyard coffee shop, a general dealer for basic necessities, communal swimming pools, a wildlife centre, and the on-site Iketla Wellness and Spa. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy including game drives, horse rides, bicycles for hire, a 4x4 obstacle course, and guided quad rides.
