Huis Oppie Rant is a free standing cottage situated on Matjiesvlei Guest Farm, offering an authentic Karoo stay in a self-catering homesteads dating back to the 1800s, imbued with family history documented by the current owner. These cottages don't offer the standard fancy decor or Wi-Fi. Instead, guests are provided with a breakaway from city life through a humble and nostalgic experience
This unit has a sleeping capacity of 6 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The main and second bedroom are each furnished witha double bed, while the third bedroom has 2 single beds. They share the use of a bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, basin, and toilet. Linen and towels are provided.
The unit has a kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove, oven, microwave, basic cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is also a indoor braai area and a dining space for guests to enjoy their meals. The lounge is furnished with comfy couches. The cottage does not have electricity but has oil lamps, solar panel and donkey boiler for hot water.
For the nature enthusiasts, the Damrivierkamp is situated on the picturesque shores of the Gamka River. It's an angler's paradise, offering a wide variety of fish species, including yellowfish, black bass, eel, and carp. There are also fantastic waterholes perfect for swimming and rowing. Guests can also experience the Bôjaankop 4x4 route which takes you to the top of Bôjaankop, from where you can enjoy stunning views of the Little Karoo.
