Description
Moonriver is situated on the banks of the Bitou River estuary, and offers lovely views over the wetlands. Accommodation is offered in 2 self-catering units on a large property with beautiful gardens, where an unspoiled wetland of abundant bird and marine life awaits you 5km outside Plettenberg Bay.
The 2 fully fitted self-catering apartments each have a braai area, as well as plenty of secure parking. Access to the 200 m river frontage is only metres away by a private jetty.
The 2 apartments comprise the apartment and the garden flat. The loft apartment is on the first floor, offering a wonderful view of the river and wetland. The garden flat is on the ground floor, and is located very near the river. The garden flat is now pet friendly!
Nature lovers have a range of activities to choose from in the immediate area; view the Big 5 at the nearby Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve, just a 20 minute drive away, or spend a day on the ocean exploring the many activities on offer. There are numerous hiking, horseback, and mountain bike trails which snake along the rugged coastline and the blue mountains. You may even spot Southern Right Whales and schools of dolphins from various vantage points in the town centre, or as you enjoy a quiet stroll along Plettenberg Bay’s 15 km of unspoiled sandy white beaches.
Attractions and activities in the surrounding area include Monkeyland, Knysna Elephant Park, exploring the indigenous forests, and perhaps spotting the elusive Knysna Loerie, Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour, golf, polo, and bungee jumping at Bloukrans Bridge. The village centre and its surrounds are filled with galleries, studios and interesting shops where local artists, crafters, food-makers, and distillers show the products of their creativity. There are a variety of restaurants, from beachside pubs to ocean-front dining rooms and terraces with lovely views. Moonriver offers a peaceful, secret escape, and is the ideal place from which to explore all the Garden Route has to offer.
