The Mountain Shadows Hotel is situated among the picturesque mountains of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains in the heart of the Eastern Cape and offers comfortable accommodation in either 2 or 3 bedroom en-suite units. The hotel is located at the top of the Barkly Pass with a height of 1990 m above sea level, and is situated on the scenic R58 Route between Barkly-East and Elliot.

The units are equipped with tea- and coffee-making facilities, electric heaters, electric blankets, and TV's. Guests can make use of the communal lounge with a big-screen TV and 3 fireplaces, and also have access to the dining room and bar, all located in the main building. The hotel offers conference facilities and is an ideal venue for training groups, motivational conferences and company getaways.
The capable kitchen staff are on hand to provide optional English breakfasts, a light lunch, 3-course buffet dinners, food parcels for travelling guests on request, and refreshments during conferences on request.
