Description
Paddahoek Cottage is situated in a quiet country lane in Vermaaklikheid, and offers comfortable self-catering accommodation in an off-the-grid, authentic stone cottage.
The thatched-roof cottage has thick stone walls, and a high ceiling which keeps it cool in the summer months. There is a free standing fireplace for winter days. Ideal for 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults and 1 child. Regrettably, 4 adults cannot be catered for. Guests have 2 options with sleeping arrangements. With one of the options, guests can utilise the queen-size bed on the mezzanine level, which is accessed by a ladder, and the 2 single beds on the ground floor. The second option is to join the 2 single beds, and add a king-size duvet on the ground level; with the loft bedroom functioning with a queen-size bed and 2 single duvets. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, a basin and a toilet.
The ground level also comprises a kitchen with a fridge-freezer and a 2-plate gas top, a dining area, and a lounge that opens onto a covered verandah with a braai area and a cast-iron stove. For Internet and telecoms access, guests will need to use their own cellphones and data but a cell phone signal booster will be provided.
The lawn area has been fenced, so dogs are permitted, provided they are well behaved and friendly and do not chase or harass wild or domestic animals. The cottage has a reliable power 2 KW system but cannot support electrical appliances with heating elements.
The cottage is a 750 m walk from the public access point on the Duiwenhoks River, where guests can launch their preferred watercraft or enjoy a swim in the cool waters.
