The chalet by the river has the nicest covered patio with comfortable sofas overlooking the river right outside your door and there is a built-in braai. Not clean. Really far away from river. Owners 3 dogs were lovely but the piles of dog poo from them were so smelly that we could not eat outside or use the grass area. Beautiful setting and gracious hosts. Our younger children loved it but our teens less so. Simply because they are less fond of farm life. My 10 and 7 year old's just loved spending time with the horses and riding their bikes. The farm itself is steep for riding but they could ride on the road, which was quiet (although they did have to look out for cars). We loved the freedom of being free to walk around the property and use the kayak. Unless you have a boat the river is otherwise quite limited. We stayed at the top cottage but would love the one on the water next time.
