Hosts Charl and Lizzie are true professionals. Felt well taken care of, we could relax and enjoy our stay.

Absolutely stunning location. 'Hidden Valley' just outside Hogsback, beautiful natural forest, alive with birdlife, bees and butterflies! To top it off, the creek flowing on the valley floor has rock pools and melodic small waterfalls to enjoy. Amazing forest hike on the property is well marked. Not too long, but it doesn't have to be. Nice steep workout coming back to the cottage!

Don't visit this place with high expectations, because it won't be high enough.

Always amazing.

This was our second stay at Serendepity. This time we took our parents to experience this little piece of heaven. We love Serendepity. It feels like you're one with nature, with nothing but the sweet sounds of nature and the spectacular views.

Magical!

Lizzie and Charl were lovely hosts. The location, with amazing views, was magical. The rooms were comfortable with a fireplace in one of the bedrooms. We were two families (young children) travelling together. Our house was probably better suited to one family rather than two. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back soon.

Charming accommodation in a serene location. It was Hogsback at its best.

We absolutely loved Serendipity. I've done a few trips to Hogsback over the years, but the combination of this location and the great service from the host was second to none. The whole family loved it. It has everything you need and includes a lovely forested walk to a rock pool on the property itself.

Lizzie is 'n wonderlike gasvrou. Even Star is 'n lieflike cottage met 'n fantastiese uitsig. Ons het elke oomblik daar geniet.

Serendipity is beslis die moeite werd en absoluut pragtig, wees net bewus dis nogal 'n redelike rowwe pad om daar te kom, en klein/lae motors moet versigtig ry.

We had a lovely stay. It was drizzly on arrival and chilly, but there was a gas heater and electric blanket.

Ons het baie lekker gebly in 'n stunning omgewing. Lizzie is 'n sout-van-die-aarde mens en so behulpsaam. Perfekte gasvrou en baie vriendelik. Ons is bederf met selfs 'n sjokolade op die bed en 'n warm welkom boodskap op die swartbordjie in die kombuis.

Warm and inviting hosts made my stay super comfortable. Had all the space I needed.

Interessante plekkie, maar die dekor is uitgedien en al die eetware en glase was so stowwerig dat ons dit eers moes was voordat ons dit kon gebruik.

Lizzie is 'n baie goeie gasvrou en ons het sommer baie tuis gevoel.

Ons het baie lekker gebly. Alles wat jy nodig het is beskikbaar in die chalet. Skuins en steil area maak dit bietjie moeilik vir persone wat moeilik loop asook om in en uit te ry met 'n gewone motor.

Convenient, comfortable and cosy.

We stayed in Evenstar Cottage, which has a double bed upstairs and a bunk bed downstairs. There is a bathroom both upstairs and downstairs, which was super convenient. There are several balconies and windows with stunning views. The cottage has all the home comforts you could possibly want, including a very good fireplace, loads of wood, a Weber, and electric blankets, which were very welcome as the weather was freezing. Our hosts had thought of absolutely everything and we loved our stay.

Dit het gevoel asof ons in 'n ander wêreld was. Ons Hemelse Vader se skildery.

Geen WiFi en TV soos geadverteer. Geen veiligheidshek as jy deur wil oop los nie.

Loadshedding was 'n probleem. 4 ure af op 'n slag. Dan geen warm water om te stort in huisie. Daar was niemand om ons te verwelkom. Self huis gesoek. Alles was netjies en skoon.

It was peaceful and tranquil and good for the soul.

The hospitality and accommodation was superb. The view was head and shoulders above the rest as were the hosts. The self-catering cottage was fully kitted with everything you could need or want, with very thoughtful touches, like wood for the fire place and a box of cookies to enjoy snuggled up in front of it, upstairs and downstairs heaters, extra blankets and a homely touch. The only thing you need to bring are clothes and a smile. Honestly, it was more like being in your own home rather than an accommodation. With 3 balconies and all glass doors it was like being outside in the forest even when you were enjoying a stay in. I almost asked to move in.

Dit was ons eerste besoek aan Hogsback. Dis 'n baie rustige dorp met interessante versteekte plekkies, bv. labirint, wandelpaaie, sjokolade- winkel en CBD-produkte. Almal in die dorp was vriendelik. Ons was baie spyt dat die pottebakker-ateljee nie oop was nie. Lizzie en Charl was uitstekende gasvrou en gasheer. Die kombuis was goed toegerus en baie skoon. Die gasstoof en kaggel was veral welkom tydens beurtkrag. Dit kan koud word in die huisie, maar die elektriese komberse op al die beddens help teen die koue. Ons wil vir seker weer gaan kuier in Hogsback, want 2 aande is te min.

Ongelukkig weer uitgemis op sneeu maar verder was als baie lekker. Die staproetes en watervalle maak op daarvoor.

Serendipity is more than what advertising can display. It is in the popular weekend visitor of the Eastern Cape but it is also the Gem of Hogsback.

Ons het 'n wonderlike week gehad, 'n middag op Treebeard cottage se stoep voel soos 'n naweek weg. Dis so stil en rustig en die uitsig is ongelooflik mooi. Kinders was versot op Gabriel, die oulikste gemmerkat ooit. Die tuin en wandelpaaie op die perseel is pragtig en daar is oral interessant versierings. Die feetjie huisies was 'n groot wenner. Lizzie en Charl is wonderlike mense. Ons sal graag weer hier kom vakansie hou. Hogsback is 'n baie spesiale plek.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Serendipity. It offered more than we expected. Words can't really describe the beauty. We've been to Hogsback many times before but we found this much more tranquil and quiet. The bird song is lovely. Only "complaint"electric blanket didn't work. Parents with small children should note the size between the bars on the balcony is quite large. Everything in the cottage is comfortable and tasteful. Complimentary tea, coffee and chocolate on arrival was a special touch. We would love to come back.

Traveling on a budget we booked into Serendipity budget accommodation. we arrived to find that Lizzie and Charl had upgraded us to a fantastic bungalow with stunning views. At no extra cost. We were offered a third night at no charge but we had to get back on the road so sadly could not stay. I recommend them without hesitation.

The views are spectacular. We stayed in one of the cottages/house with bedrooms and a large deck upstairs, so the kids and I spent most of our evenings outside taking in the forest and mountain views. Then we huddled in front of the fireplace in one of the bedrooms every night. Pity we didn't get around to taking a forest walk on the premises due to rainy weather. Looking forward to our next stay!

Peaceful, relaxing and fun.

I would love to have spent more time here, especially alone, as it is the perfect place to relax and self reflect. I would note that this is not the accommodation for elderly or physically impaired people, as it can be a bit harder to reach all the beautiful spots, but once you are there, the views are mind-blowingly beautiful.

Serendipity is 'n hidden gem! Uitstekende ligging, mooiste uitsig, veilig, en met sy eie wandelpad. Charl en Lizzy is uitstekende gashere en laat mens dadelik welkom voel. Alhoewel daar goeie opvangs is, stel ons voor julle sit julle selfone weg en geniet die tyd saam met geliefdes! Puik ervaring! Dankie julle!

Faith Cottage was more than what I expected. It was bigger than what I thought it would be. Had a beautiful 3 night stay. It was a lovely "recharge to our batteries". It is so peaceful and relaxing there.

Die gasvrou het ons persoonlik na die eenheid geneem en verduidelik hoe alles werk. Die eenheid het voldoen aan al ons behoeftes. Na ons vertrek het gasheer ons gekontak om seker te maak ons het veilig deur die Katbergpas gereis, aangesien die weer verswak het. Die staproete op die perseël was 'n verrassing. Die stilte en kalmte van die area het ons ook geval.

It's so peaceful with the sounds of nature and the wild parrots in the evenings is a blessing to see, before they settle in for the night. We'll definitely be back. Lizzie and Charl are such welcoming hosts and make you feel so at home.

Best choice I've made to book at Serendipity! The place do exist and is even better than the pictures! If you need to get away from the rat race or need to find time for your partner again - Serendipity is the place to go! This is a special place to re-connect with nature and God's creation. Sleep warm and comfortable. Do the walking trail through the beautiful garden and amazing woods. Enjoy a sundowner on the deck in clean fresh air - and decide when you are booking your next visit. Like we did.

We travelled with our 8 year old and our much older daughter and stayed in the Evenstar Cottage. For a family with toddlers it could be challenging. The view over the valley from both the upstairs and downstairs is beautiful and the whole property has a relaxed atmosphere. We were able to see Samango monkeys and a Knysna Turaco from the room. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a private braai. The beds were comfortable and lots of very hot water from the shower. The hosts were very accommodating and helped us with anything we needed. WiFi worked better upstairs. We could've stayed longer.
