Description
Shindzela Tented Camp is an unfenced tented camp within the world-renowned Timbavati Private Game Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
Shindzela, named after the honey badger in the Shangaan language, offers guests a choice of safari-style tents under thatch structures and can be made up with twin beds or king-size beds and mosquito nets. Each of the tents has a semi-open en-suite bathroom with a shower, a flush toilet, and a hand basin. Unlimited Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and refills from the mineral water dispensing machine is provided. The tents open onto wooden decks with views of the surrounds.
Shindzela’s layout encompasses an open-plan lounge, a dining room where breakfast and lunch are served, and a bar area that overlooks the dry river bed and a small watering hole where animals gather during the hot summer days. Dinner is served, weather permitting, in the open-air boma.
Shindzela is an eco-friendly camp and makes use of solar power and gas energy. The tents are not equipped with power outlets, but a charging station can be found in the main area.
Guests can cool down in the swimming pool, or partake in 2 guided safari activities; a morning game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle or a morning walking trail, and a late afternoon/early evening safari to view the wide variety of game, insect and plant life, as well as the 350 bird species in the area. Crocodiles and hippos can also be seen in the dams, and guests may even spot a wild dog. At night, bush babies, genets, civets, porcupines, and African wild cats may also make an appearance.
