Eric's Place @ Simonskloof Mountain Retreat offers an eco-friendly, off-grid escape, located 50 km west of Montagu. Ideal for couples or small families, this charming cottage provides a tranquil setting surrounded by the unique beauty of the Succulent Karoo and Mountain Fynbos. The area is home to diverse medicinal plants and wildlife, making it a perfect venue for yoga retreats and healthy living workshops.
The spacious cottage can accommodate up to 8 guests in its 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. All 3 bedrooms are furnished with 2 single beds that can be converted into a king-size bed. The living area includes an additional 2 single beds for extra sleeping space. Guests share a bathroom fitted with a solar-heated shower, toilet, washbasin, and a gas backup system for hot water. While the cottage is off-grid, Wi-Fi is available upon request.
The kitchen includes pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery. The dining room features a large, dining table for 8 people and an old-style Dover stove for a touch of traditional farm cooking. In the spacious lounge, a classic Queen Anne stove adds warmth and comfort during the colder months. The expansive veranda offers sweeping views of Simonskloof Valley, while a nearby herb garden and an outdoor bathtub under the stars enhance the rustic charm. Braai facilities are available.
Eric's Place @ Simonskloof Mountain Retreat offers an array of outdoor activities, including short hikes, rock climbing, and swimming in the farm dam or nearby rock pools. Guided adventures such as canyoning, wilderness hiking, and abseiling are also available. The retreat is home to an extensive 50+ km network of hiking trails, including the challenging and renowned Gecko Trail, making it a paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
