Description
Skeiding Guest Farm is a working grain, sheep, ostrich and Nguni farm, located halfway between Cape Town and Knysna near the N2, in the Heidelberg region. The farm is the ideal stopover accommodation for tourists or families travelling alike.
Accommodation comprises a variety of guest rooms and cottages. Each room and cottage have en-suite bathrooms, tea- and coffee-making facilities as well as an honesty bar, and a fireplace in some of the cottages. The rooms and cottages are named after plants, animals and birds commonly found in the area. A scrumptious farm breakfast is included, which entails a plate of seasonal fruit, at least a dozen homemade preserves and jams, freshly baked bread, vetkoek, a cheese platter, cereals, yoghurt, eggs and also a choice between an ostrich and pork bacon.
Guests can also enjoy home-cooked country cuisine prepared by Anné-Lize and her small team of able and enthusiastic assistants at an additional charge. A three-course menu is served every evening at the family dining table. Guests should let management know of any dietary requirements for the best culinary experience.
Guests can also arrange to stay on a self-catering basis. The farm has a communal swimming pool and braai facilities as well. Guests can enjoy watching the feeding of ostriches and watch the working dog's herd the sheep.
