We ask that all guests sign the following on arrival, and abide by these rules throughout their stay:
1. Noise
While we would love you to enjoy your stay at Smithgrove Guesthouse, we ask that, out of consideration to our neighbours and other guests, you not make any noise after 21:00 pm.
Noise after 21:00 pm will incur a disturbance fee of R1000. Should we be obliged to call our security team to assist us, the call-out fee will be charged to the person or persons causing the disturbance.
2. Alcohol
Alcohol is permitted in the common shared areas until 21:00 pm. After that time, guests must retire to their rooms should they want to continue to consume alcohol. Should any guests be excessively drunk or disorderly in common areas, we will request that they retire to their rooms. Should this behavior continue, our security company will be called, and the call-out fee will rest on those causing the disturbance.
3. Visitors
Guests are not permitted visitors. Only paying guests are allowed to make use of Smithgrove and its facilities.
4. Keys
Guests will be given their room key and a remote upon check-in once payment for the duration of their stay has been made in full. It is their responsibility to look after the keys until they check-out. A non-refundable fine of R200 will be given for lost keys, and R600 for lost gate remotes. Keys are to be handed in at check-out which is at 10h00 am.
5. Damages
Damages to décor and furnishings will fall on the guest's account and must be paid for before departure.
6. Smoking
Smoking is strictly forbidden in guest rooms and in all indoor areas. Should a guest be in contravention of these rules, a professional cleaning company will be called to clean the affected areas. This service of R1500 will fall under the guest's account immediately.
7. Load Shedding
We have a generator that runs at specific times (17:00 pm - 21:30 pm and 06:00 am - 08:00 am) during load shedding hours. Please do not run your air-conditioner, hair dryer, kettle, and any other heavy appliances during this time as it puts undue strain on the generator. If you are unsure of the load shedding schedule, please feel free to ask staff.
8. Swimming Pool
Smithgrove Guesthouse accepts no responsibility of injury or death of guests who are welcome to use our swimming pool. Using the swimming pool is done so at your own risk. If you have children, please be aware that the pool is not covered and as such is a hazard to them, as we do not have lifeguards.
9. Check-out time
Our check-out time is strictly 10h00am. Please note, for every hour after 10h00am, a R500 late check-out fee will apply. Should a guest not check out by 11h00am, they will be charged another night's stay.
