Excellent in all regards Beautiful location, excellent staff, great wholesome food, peaceful and it felt safe. The highlight was the battlefield tour which is really touching. If I could offer one suggestion it would be to provide guests with a little map that sets out one or two self walks (perhaps up Alice, or down the wagon trail to the river) and also a few mountain bike routes. I would be willing to pay extra for the opportunity to ride across some of the land around the lodge.

Disappointing weekend. SpionKop Lodge is part of a working farm. Acacia cottage is directly next to a cattle pen. During our first night, the cattle were loaded onto trucks into the corral twice, at midnight and again early in the morning. On our third night there were cattle in the barn again.
