Description
St. Lucia Wetlands Guest House lies within the tranquil village of St. Lucia tucked between the warm Indian Ocean and Lake St. Lucia. The elegant, private well appointed spacious bedrooms are decorated with attention to detail and the comforts of extra large beds, each with a mosquito net, complimentary toiletries, wireless internet and wall safes are standard. The comfortable guest lounge with a big screen TV and fireplace offers local-interest books and brochures. Although the owners, Hettie and Derick, reside on the premises and can be reached any time of the day or night by using the direct dial telephone in the bedrooms, the guest house is for the exclusive use of the guests.
Facilities and services include, licensed bar, secure off street parking and valet vehicle service, swimming pool and credit card facilities. Complimentary drink on arrival with orientation and excursion bookings. Laundry service can be arranged and smoker's patio available.
This six bedroom, one two bedroom family unit, guest house is well positioned to explore the many attractions of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (previously known as the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park). The business centre with its quaint restaurants, is within walking distance fom the guest house. Apart from the Hippopotamus who occasionally visit the village at night it is safe for our guest to walk to the restaurants.
Prestine beaches, forest walking trails and crocodile Research Centre are located near the guest house. Other activities include horse riding, two scenic nine hole golf courses just around the corner, kayaking amongst the Hippos and Crocodiles, snorkelling at Cape Vidal, guided boat cruises on Lake St. Lucia, Zulu culture, deep sea fishing, seasonal boat based whale watching (June to November) and seasonal turtle watching (November to March). Less than one hour drive from the Hluhluwe/iMfolozi Game reserve, hosting the Big Five and a globally important bird area (IBA).
Quote from former President Nelson Mandela: "The St. Lucia Wetland Park must be the only place on the globe where the world's oldest land mammal (the rhinoceros) and the world's biggest terrestrial mammal (the elephant) share an ecosystem with the world's oldest fish (the coelacanth) and the world's biggest marine mammal (the whale)".
Hettie and Derick invite you to come and explore the diversity of this world class park from the comforts of their home.
