Just 7 km from Beaufort West lies a place where time slows down, children rediscover the outdoors, and families gather the way they were meant to. Steenbokkie Private Nature Reserve is a 7,000ha working game and hospitality farm set in the vast openness of the Karoo, framed by the Nuweveld Mountains.
This is more than accommodation. It is space, freedom and authentic farm living.
Ideal for family reunions, milestone celebrations and group gatherings, Steenbokkie accommodates up to 50 guests. The layout offers both privacy and generous communal areas, making it easy to be together without feeling crowded. Long tables, open braai fires and endless Karoo sunsets create the setting for connection — simple, meaningful and unhurried.
We also welcome overnight travelers, with convenient self check-in available for late arrivals.
Days are spent exploring open landscapes, cycling scenic trails, spotting wildlife or relaxing on a stoep with uninterrupted views. Evenings bring vast star-filled skies — bold, clear and unforgettable.
Children experience real farm freedom — summer swimming, playground adventures, cycling and feeding sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits and horses. Here, screens fade and imagination takes over.
Accommodation is comfortable and thoughtfully equipped.
Guest rooms offer en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, selected DSTV channels, electric blankets in winter and tea and coffee facilities, with access to communal kitchen and braai areas.
Self-catering cottages include fully equipped kitchens, two air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, lounge areas and private braai facilities.
Die Jaghuis, located 1 km from Reception, accommodates 4 to 12 guests. The six-bedroom farmhouse (four bathrooms, three en-suite) may be enjoyed privately or divided into two units with separate entrances.
Camping facilities accommodate up to 20 caravans on shaded green lawns with electrical points and separate ablutions. Larger school groups can be hosted in a marquee setup. Daily servicing is available for extended stays.
The reserve is home to giraffe, zebra, steenbok, ostrich, eland, blesbok, wildebeest, springbok, duiker, tsessebe and nyala, along with abundant birdlife. Guests may explore 5 km, 13 km or 23 km routes on foot, bicycle or by arrangement with their own vehicle.
Rooms are intentionally WiFi-free to encourage genuine connection, with WiFi available at Reception. An on-site shop stocks essentials, gifts, books, homemade cookies and preserves. Home-style meals and traditional braai packs are available, with breakfast parcels for early departures.
Pet friendly by prior arrangement.
