Today the town is mainly a farming community producing maize, beef, dairy, wheat, and wool. Besides the hot springs, local attractions include the Oviston Nature Reserve, Tussen di Riviere Game Reserve, Aliwal North Museum, the Kerkplein Museum, and the Garden of Remembrance.
