The Croft Cottages is nestled at the foot of the Amatola Mountains, bordering the Xholora Forest, 7 km from the town of Stutterheim. The Croft offers both self-catering and bed and breakfast accommodation in well-equipped cottages and en-suite rooms. The Croft is conveniently situated when travelling to or from East London, Bisho, King Williams Town and Queenstown.
The cottages and en-suite rooms are ideal for business stopovers, weekends away and family holidays and get togethers. The accommodation is situated on 19 hectares, offering guests privacy within a scenic and peaceful farm-like environment. Cattle graze close by, silkie chickens roam freely, and duikers and the Samango monkeys are frequently spotted. The Xholora Forest trails are a short stroll from your door.
The 2 thatched cottages each have 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and an upstairs loft with single beds. Each cottage has 1 bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette with a fridge, an oven and stove, a microwave, and a kettle and toaster.
The timber cottage is a single-storey unit with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette with a 2-plate stove and oven, a fridge, a microwave, and a kettle and toaster.
The 2 self-catering en-suite rooms each contain a double bed, a bathroom, and a kitchenette with a fridge, an oven and stove, a microwave, and a kettle and toaster. The 2 basic en-suite rooms each contain 2 single beds or a double bed, a bathroom, a bar fridge, a microwave, and a kettle and toaster.
All units are equipped with Wi-Fi and a TV with selected DStv channels. The cottages have indoor log fireplaces for the chilly winters, and the en-suite rooms all have heaters. There are electric blankets on all the beds. There are braai facilities on the verandahs, and guests can enjoy the swimming pool on the property.
The Croft is ideally situated for forest and wilderness trails, birding, and fishing. Enjoy extraordinary birdlife include the Cape parrots, robins, orange thrush, the Cape black cap and many more. Explore the magnificent forest on foot, horseback, or mountain bike. Experience the serenity of the nearby dams with excellent trout and bass fishing, or visit the local country club for a round of golf or a game of tennis and squash. Stutterheim offers the Stationary Engine Museum, or visit Thomas River Historical Village for a meal or cup of coffee.
