I stayed in the 'Jasmine' room for 3 nights while attending a chess tournament at nearby UJ during December 2024 and experienced a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Mellville Quarters. I was also made to feel at home by the welcoming host. Situated in a nice, secluded garden environment with a pool and away from the street, the unit is tastefully decorated, well maintained and clean, with all the necessary cooking utensils included. I was especially fond of the induction heating stove plate and am now looking to buy one for myself. On the downside, this area of Joburg unfortunately experienced an almost complete water shutdown for 72 hours during my stay, but the guest house made more than sufficient drinking and washing water available to me. The air conditioner was also a great plus, as Joburg was experiencing a heat wave during this time. The undercover parking, just off the main street, provided sufficient shelter during a sudden thunderstorm and the sturdy electric gate ensured peace of mind. All in all, a very nice stay. I can recommend this guest house and would like to stay here again myself should the opportunity arise.

Wonderful place will definitely stay again. We stayed 2 nights and the fact that it is animal friendly made it very comfortable for us. The owners were very helpful and friendly and the place beautiful, safe and a very good location. Provision was even made with lights during "loadshedding". Will definitely stay there again.
