Good day, and thank you for your review.
Please note that we do not have an automatic backup generator; instead, it is manually operated and intended to run only until 8 PM. The recent power outage was due to a fault from the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality. Given the generator’s size, we are unable to operate it throughout the night due to noise concerns.
On Saturday, both managers were on the property and informed all guests that the generator would be turned off. A family spokesperson was present when the municipality arrived on-site. By 4 AM on Sunday morning, we checked the power line, knowing it had been restored. However, after 5 AM, municipal technicians worked on the breakers on the poles, which unfortunately resulted in a power surge that burned out the main breaker and switchboard. This incident made it impossible to restart the generator.
Again, the family spokesperson was informed, and given that all doors were closed, we refrained from waking the guests. We requested that the spokesperson notify everyone that electricians were working on-site to bypass the board and resume generator operations.
Electricity was fully restored at 10 AM, once the entire breaker box had been rebuilt from scratch. We will escalate this matter to the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality, as these issues were entirely beyond our control.
