Treks, Trips & Trails offers self-catering accommodation in 2 separate but equally unique chalets, overlooking the Bell Park Dam with the Cathkin and Champagne peaks of the Central Drakensberg behind.
Bahati is an elevated, upmarket timber tree lodge with its own glass-encased live tree growing through the en-suite bedroom which boasts an extra-length double bed, a spa-bath and tree view shower. The bedroom leads out into an open-plan sitting room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen, which in turn leads through a large sliding door onto a full-length deck with an awesome view and gas braai. The lower en-suite bedroom comprises 2 single beds, a sitting area and an enormous walk-in, plate-glass shower showing off the picture-perfect Drakensberg beyond. This is all topped off with a large open braai, a fire pit area and a superb rock swimming pool a few steps away.
Bergvlei Cottage is a very comfortable 6-sleeper chalet with a Harvey-tiled roof, a deck and braai area outside leading into an open-plan sitting and dining room with fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, and other small appliances. The ground-floor bedroom contains a double bed, and a bathroom with a bath and hand shower. The mezzanine bedroom contains a double bed and 2 single beds and has its own mountain-facing alcove. The room is serviced by a downstairs bathroom with a shower only. Being a garden cottage within reasonable proximity to the main residence its niche market is its security enhanced by the tranquillity and sheer beauty of its setting. Bergvlei is also within a few metres of the rock swimming pool with its 2 small waterfalls.
Both Bahati and Bergvlei are equipped with electric blankets and have fireplaces for keeping the cold out in winter, as well as decks and outside braai areas to enjoy during the warmer months. They also both have their own undercover parking. All this in a malaria-free area with stupendous views and hospitality.
