Voëlroepersfontein Gastehuis & Skrywersretreat is hidden between giant trees in the historic town of Albertinia. An abundance of underground water rises out of the 1.6-hectare dark, fertile soil, filling two dams and providing vast gardens of water.
The guesthouse offers spacious air-conditioned rooms facing north, and each room is equipped with tea-and-coffee-making facilities, a fridge, as well as a TV with DStv. Guests also have access to free Wi-Fi, a library, a guest lounge, a balcony, as well as a kitchen where guests can prepare their own meals.
On both sides of the old mansion there are 2 majestic wildevy trees; the largest tree, the "Wispering Tree" has been awarded national champion-tree status. In the evening, the gardens are lit up and the tree trunks and air roots, create a terrestrial impression. Guests can relax on banks beside the water, in the woods under the trees, and even fish on a catch-and-release basis. Braai facilities are available at various locations on the premises. The premises also have security cameras to ensure safety.
The guesthouse is ideal for travellers and groups; reunions, family gatherings, and weddings. Picnics, workshops, corporate breakaways, conferences, music concerts and reading opportunities are on the deck under the award-winning Fluisterboom. Albertinia and its surroundings offer a variety of restaurants and attractions such as the Aloe Ferox Aalwyn factory with hundreds of thousands of commercially-planted aloes, the Garden Farm and Albertinia Museums, the Garden Route Game Lodge for game drives, various birdwatching sites, the archaeologically important Blombos Museum and Cave, the Stone Age history of rendering the region, the Sleeping Beauty Mountain of Riversdal with various hiking trails, as well as the clay and marsh mine outside Albertinia. The town is only 36 km from Gouritz, 39 km from Stilbaai, 40 km from Riversdale and 48 km from Jongensfontein and Mossel Bay.
