Description

Vrolikheid is a double-storey self-catering house ideally located in Buffalo Bay. Vrolikheid is the Afrikaans word for ‘joviality’ or ‘merriment’ and this property embodies the term entirely. The house is one of the very first fisherman’s cottages in the village, and even after some renovations, it has retained its warm seaside cottage feel; the yellow wood from the original cottage has been lovingly repurposed into the house’s floor and furniture. The house boasts panoramic ocean views and is only a 2-minute walk from the ocean.

The house can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. There is a fifth room upstairs that has a day bed should this be needed.

The upstairs area consists of the main bedroom and bathroom, the kitchen, dining and living room areas. The main bedroom contains a king-size bed and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge-freezer, stove and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine and tumble dryer. Off the kitchen is a back deck that overlooks the garden, with a sea view and has a braai facility. The dining area contains a 10-seater dining table and benches. The lounge offers comfortable seating with a TV. The living area opens to a covered balcony deck with outdoor dining furniture and seating. Take a seat on the deck overlooking the point of Buffalo Bay and take in the wild ocean views.

On the bottom floor are 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a linen cupboard. Two bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed while the third bedroom has 2 single beds. These rooms share a bathroom with a bath, a toilet and a washbasin. These bedrooms each open to the covered downstairs patio with views of the ocean.

The home is one of the very few in the town which has a large garden, making this space very attractive to families. There is a single carport but adequate space in the garden to park an extra car. Picket fencing surrounds the garden area. There is an inverter and battery to see our guests through loadshedding periods.
