"One of the few authentic "dorpies" left in South Africa. No ATM, petrol station, or supermarket, but wonderful hospitality and very friendly people. Safe to walk around at night. We ate at the Waenhuis which was superb and the corner shop stocked the small items we needed. Dust roads, peace, and calm. The most amazing dawn chorus from the resident birds. Well worth a visit."
"Nieu-Bethesda is pragtig met baie besienswaardighede - daar is verskeie restaurante. Ons het by Bruno's pizza geëet en hulle kon selfs vir my 'n gluten-vrye pizza maak. Ons sal definitief weer in Nieu-Bethesda vakansie hou."
"A really rich visit, with so much more to learn and experience than just the owl house. Really worth spending a few days exploring each little thing the village and surroundings offer. It is not that well advertised, so hoping to help people know about this part of the village. The Karoo Experience tasting menu at Stirlings restaurant is an absolute must; a real flavour sensation, and is very reasonably priced. Also, Antie Evelyne's restaurant in the township (find her details online to make a booking) offers a really hearty evening meal - in an impoverished township, go ahead and support existing economic activity, and enjoy a really hearty meal and good conversation with Antie Evelyne in the process!"
"Die dorpie is lieflik. Baie stil en rustig so tussen die berge. Daar is heelwat gallerye, restaurantjies en 'n baie oulike winkeltjie met enige voorraad wat jy moontlik nodig sal kry en hy is oop tot 20:00. Die Waenhuis se aandetes kan aanbeveel word - hulle maak 'n heerlike lambredie."
"Beslis ‘n oornag besoek aanbeveel. Goeie Karoo tjoppies en wyntjie in Sterling Restaurant herinner jou aan waar jy jou bevind. Vyf ster."
"Beautiful quirky town with historial significance and lots of interesting places to visit. Absolute recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. Only one negative, the road at the top of the pass, a mere 2 km from town, towards Doornberg and other farms had a garbage dump located there with plastic strewn far and wide across the craggy mountainside and across the stunning vistas. Bear in mind that unless you are a tourist specifically travelling out that way, you wouldn't know about this. Could be managed better by the town."
"Beautiful and interesting town. The NG church is magnificent. The Owl House is definitely worth a visit, as well as the Kitching Fossil Centre. The restaurants are lovely and the brewery also worth a visit. Friendly people, very quaint and picturesque town. Would love to go back for longer next time"

"Dit was ons derde verblyf in Nieu-Bethesda en was weer net so aangenaam soos altyd. Die dorp en sy mense is besonders en die "festival of lights"-optog deur die dorp op Oujaarsaand sal ons baie graag weer wil meedoen."
